Hoka Mach 6 vs Mach 7: What Changed

Hoka bills both as “your gateway to everyday speed”, and if you’re torn between a Mach 6 and a Mach 7, Hoka’s own pages suggest they’re close. Hoka says the Mach 7 delivers “the same snappy, responsive ride as its predecessor with a brand-new look”.

A quick note before the numbers: ATHLO+ doesn’t sell running shoes. Every figure here comes from Hoka’s own product pages, which we list at the bottom, not from our own testing.

Same materials, the same 5 mm heel drop, a new look and a reworked upper. Hoka lists the two 0.17 oz apart.

Side by side

Shoe Weight Heel-to-toe drop Midsole foam (Hoka’s name)
Hoka Mach 6 8.20 oz (232 g) 5 mm Supercritical foam
Hoka Mach 7 (current) 8.37 oz (237 g) 5 mm Supercritical EVA

You won’t find a stack height here. Hoka doesn’t publish one on these product pages, and we’d rather leave it out than borrow a number from somewhere else. Hoka quotes weight in ounces, so we’ve converted to grams and rounded. Brands weigh a single sample size, so your pair will come out a little different.

Mach 6 to Mach 7

In Hoka’s words, the Mach 7 is “built with the same proven materials”, with “an aesthetic overhaul with futuristic lines” and a refined creel jacquard upper meant “to reduce weight and enhance breathability”. Even so, Hoka’s own spec lists the Mach 7 slightly heavier: 8.37 oz (237 g) against the Mach 6’s 8.20 oz (232 g).

Underfoot, both run on supercritical foam. The Mach 7 lists sticky rubber in the forefoot and Durabrasion rubber at the heel, where the Mach 6 lists “strategic rubber outsole coverage”. The drop is 5 mm on both.

One thing to know if you’re buying a Mach 7: Hoka advises you to “go up by a half size larger than usual for your ideal fit”.

Where these figures come from

We read these from Hoka’s own product pages on 17 Oct 2026. A few links go to copies saved by the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine, so you can still check them after a brand takes a page down. This is a spec comparison, not a review: we haven’t tested these shoes and we’re not ranking them. If the ATHLO+ Shoe Lab shows a different figure, this page is the one taken straight from the brand.
